Short brown hair blew back from a petite, white face as pale, nearly colorless eyes scanned the waves before her. A pure ebonite form stood next to the short girl, protected not by a blouse or scarf, as rested about the girl's neck, but by thick, fluffy fur, in which the girl's long, slender fingers were casually entangled.
"There is no one here..." whispered the girl. The wolf glanced up at her.
That is good, is it not, Amber? We don't want anyone in our lands.
"No," said the girl, Amber, with a smile down at her lifetime companion. "We do not. These are our lands... no one else may tread upon them..."
And with a long howl, the black wolf disappeared, followed shortly by the fading of the girl's translucent form. Joining the howl was one whispered word.
"Ours..."
